Compostable Bin Liners

Our bin liners are certified compostable to both the European and Australian Standards - EN13432 and AS4736 and the Australian home composting standard AS 5810-2010.
The compostable bags are made from a combination of cornstarch and Ecopond Flex 162, a compostable polymer to improve the liner's elasticity. The cornstarch is made from inedible waste produced during the corn harvesting process in Northern China. The factory holds ISO certifications for Quality Management Environmental Management, and Occupational Health and Safety.

WHY COMPOST?

From a WasteMINZ study in 2016, we know that around 45% of an average household's bin contains compostable waste. In addition to that, approx. 20% of waste sent to landfills is organic. Essentially, this means there is a lot of space taken up in landfills with materials that don't need to be there. This means the landfill's lifespan is shortened, leading to more landfills being created over time.
Organic waste breaks down in landfills, but this comes at a cost. A landfill is an oxygen-free or anaerobic environment. The bacteria that survive here produce methane as a by-product of the breakdown process. Methane is estimated to be 28-36 times more potent than CO2 regarding global warming potential.
Instead of this harmful process, the compostable waste we collect is turned into high-grade compost.

HOW DO FOOD WASTE COLLECTIONS WORK?

It's so easy. We're simply adding another waste stream collection to go along with your current rubbish and recycling service.
Here's how it works:

  • Firstly, you must designate an internal bin that will hold your compostable waste. It can be a new or re-used bin; however, it's essential to use a compostable bin liner to keep it nice and fresh.
  • We'll supply you with a wheelie bin for the collection service. You just empty the compostable waste into this wheelie bin.
  • Our team place a fresh compostable bin liner into the wheelie bin on each empty.
Your wheelie bin size and collection service frequency are calculated to fit your business.
