Q: How does THRO’N’PAY work?
 Once you have signed the Direct Debit Payment form, our Customer Services Team will contact you to arrange delivery of your new bin and your first rubbish pickup.
When your rubbish bin needs to be emptied, put it kerbside by 7am on collection day.
Our Green Gorilla truck will empty your bin during it's scheduled collection route.
An automatic Direct Debit payment will be made only after your bin is emptied.

Q: Do I have to book a rubbish bin collection?
 No. Just put your rubbish bin kerbside by 7am on collection day and our collection driver will empty it. We'll have your details in our system, so we'll know to empty your bin.

Q: Is there a minimum THRO’N’PAY service charge per month?
Yes. One collection charge per month is the minimum.

Q: What type of rubbish can I put into my THRO'N"PAY bin?
Your normal household rubbish.

Q: Can I put my recycling into the THRO'N"PAY bin?
No. Recycling collections remains with Auckland Council.

Q: What THRO'N'PAY wheelie bin size will best fit my household?
The 140 litre bin is generally used for households of under three people and the 240 litre bins are usually for households with three or more people.

Q: How do I pay?
 Payment is via Direct Debit. The sign-up form is located on the JOIN page.

Q: What areas do you service?
 Currently selected streets within the Auckland suburbs of Glen Eden, Glendene, Green Bay, Henderson, Kelston, New Lynn, Ranui and Te Atatu South. Also the Pahurehure and Rosehill areas in Papakura.

Q: Who supplies my wheelie bin?
 Green Gorilla will supply your new THRO'N'PAY wheelie bin.

Q: Can I use a wheelie bin that is not a Green Gorilla bin?
 No. You can ONLY use a Green Gorilla wheelie bin because they have a special tag that records your rubbish collection.

Q: Can I change the size of my THRO'N'PAY wheelie bin?
A: Yes you can change bin size any time. Call us on 633 4563 (Mon-Fri business hours).

Q: Which day is my THRO'N'PAY collection?
A: A confirmation of your service day will be emailed to you.

Q: What happens if my collection falls on a public holiday?
A: We still collect your bin. The only we don't collect is Christmas Day.

Q: Which time is my THRO'N'PAY collection?
A: Your bin should be presented at the kerbside by 7am on your collection day with the lid firmly closed.

Q: My THRO'N'PAY collection was missed. What should I do?
A: Call us on 633 4563 (Mon - Fri business hours).

Q: What rubbish can I put in my THRO'N'PAY wheelie bin?

Yes to:

  • Any non-recyclable waste.
  • General rubbish - we do not recycle any rubbish placed in these bins.

No to:

  • Stones, gravel, rubble.
  • Soil.
  • Sharp objects.
  • Hot ashes - please allow ashes to cool before placing in your wheeled bin or refuse sacks.
  • DIY home improvement waste.

Q: Who is responsible for cleaning my THRO'N'PAY wheelie bin?
A: You the customer. Here's some tips for a clean bin:

  • Use supermarket bags for messy waste.
  • A light spray of cooking oil can help to keep your bin clean.
  • Drop a few pieces of lavender into your bin to reduce odours.
  • A hose out once in a while is generally all that is required.

Q: Do you have bigger bins?
A: Not for the THRO'N'PAY service but you can use a low cost, big and strong Gorilla Bag. We deliver. You fill. We collect. ORDER HERE.
