We are seeking a well-rounded, energetic, adaptable and experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team. You will be someone who has transport and operational experience working with both internal and external customers and have the nous to work with drivers as well. Trucks, routing and operations will be familiar to you and you will flourish in a fast-paced environment. In this role you will be joining the team that services the Council Kerbside collections contract that collects refuse, recycling and food waste from 80,000 households in the Central West Auckland area.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
- Act as the primary point of contact for employees and drivers during collection hours
- Daily Liaison between Auckland Council and Contract Manager
- Assist with Employee management including, daily operations, recruitment, disciplinary and absences
- Plan/Deliver daily/ monthly toolbox talks
- New council team member inductions
- Training of staff to be compliant with contract and/legislation requirements
- Operational efficiencies and achieving contractual KPI’s
- Rosters and daily driver resource planning
- Liaising with customers / Residence, employees and contractors
- Manage collections in line with contract KPI’s, and contractual guidelines
- Maintain and maximise route efficiencies
- Conduct council audits in consultation with Auckland Council, driver and contract managers
- Generate weekly/monthly reports as required
- Conduct monthly vehicle and site inspections/reports
- Planning and scheduling routine servicing and programmed maintenance of plant equipment and company assets
Our ideal candidate would have the following:
- Route optimisation experience
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in transport and/or logistics
- Previous supervisor/people management experience
- Proven relevant experience in a similar environment/role is preferable
- Self-motivated and works to strict deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Strong relationship builder and team player
- Class 4 drivers licence preferable
- Relevant qualification in Business, Logistics or related field will be an advantage
