Position Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Transport Dispatcher to join our team.  You will be responsible for allocating and distributing the workload for a number of trucks, ensuring we are delivering services to our customers as promised and on time. Another key function of the role is maintaining and improving the productivity of our fleet. You will be liaising between the drivers and our customers to find solutions. It is a green light all day with multiple communication channels and challenges occurring at once.

The successful candidate must have the ability to multitask and communicate effectively.  This is a busy role that needs someone with strong structure and focus.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Prioritise and efficiently allocate work to drivers
  • Consistently monitor and manage the progress of all dispatched jobs to ensure they are successfully attended to
  • Communicating with drivers for any changes or updates
  • Maintaining a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers at all times
  • Responding promptly to customer inquiries
  • Proactively assess customer needs and find the best solution for them.
  • Work collaboratively as a team with our Service Centre and other Dispatchers to achieve the best outcome for our customers.
  • Weekly & Monthly reporting

Our ideal candidate would have the following:

  • Proven transport dispatch experience
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise a demanding workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge & Experience of the NZ Land Transport rules and regulations relating to driver log books and legal work hours
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety specially related to the transport industry
  • Polished and professional communication style
  • Strong relationship builder and team player
  • Work at a fast pace with high volumes
  • Critical thinker, how many solutions can you come up with
  • Sound geographical knowledge of Auckland Region
  • Logical thinker with a positive can-do attitude
  • Solid skills using software systems and processes
